Why am I receiving texts on my mobile phone from RTFP Doctors?

Raymond Terrace Family Practice has introduced a new service via HotDoc to help us send you secure mobile notifications and allow you to book appointments quickly and easily. You may receive a text message (SMS) from our practice which will include a link to a secure message from your doctor. CLICK ON THE LINK and verify your information so that you can view the message. The message will include any instructions and you can book an appointment via this message or call the practice for more information. You will be sent a text for each health issue requiring a reminder. If you do not open the link, a prompt is generated on your medical file to ensure this message is re-sent to you until you respond. This is necessary to ensure that no important test results or reminders are missed for any patient. You can also book appointments online on our website, on the Hot Doc website or App, or by calling us on (02) 49830900.  This newly improved health promotion service will help us securely and efficiently send you important reminders, reduce our environmental impact by cutting down on inefficient mail, and allow you to book appointments at a convenient time without needing to wait for the practice to open.

If you have any questions about this process, please call us on (02) 49830900.

What is your billing policy?

Raymond Terrace Family Practice is a private billing practice, providing services on a fee for service basis. This means that the patient pays the practice directly for services. The Commonwealth government Medicare programme pays a rebate back to the patient for eligible services.

Children under 16 years of age. (Conditions apply - weekdays only. Surgical procedures, wound repair/sutures/plaster and other consumables will be charged at a private rate)

Saturday consultations attract a surcharge fee of $5.

What is Bulk Billing?

Bulk billing is when the GP accepts the Medicare rebate directly as payment for services, instead of billing the patient for the service. Generally the fees for multiple consultations to many patients are submitted to the government periodically in bulk as a batch, hence the name “Bulk Billing”

Is bulk billing available?

Bulk billing is routinely available at Raymond Terrace Family Practice for some services, including:

  • Immunisations
  • Chronic disease management items
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are on a health care card/pension card or 16 years and under.
  • Children under 16 years of age. (Conditions apply - weekdays only. Surgical procedures, wound repair/sutures/plaster and other consumables will be charged at a private rate)

The results for most (not all) pathology & radiology tests come in to our practice within a few days of the test being carried out, as an electronic download. If you have been referred to a specialist, your GP will receive a letter from them in the weeks following your appointment.

Our Doctors view their results and/or letters at their earliest available time and advise our staff on how to proceed with patient follow up if necessary. You may hear from us by phone, SMS or post. It is essential that if your contact details change that you advise our reception staff to ensure our records are always kept up to date should we need to get in contact with you.

Where two appointments in a 12 month period are not attended by an individual patient or their dependents &/or notice of cancellation was not given atleast 2hrs prior to the appointment time, patients will be required to:

  • Pay a holding deposit upon booking their future appointment to the value of their expected consultation fee (for patients that fit into our Bulk Billing criteria this fee is $20 refundable at attendance of consultation)
  • Phone the practice for future bookings - online booking unavailable.

The holding deposit will then contribute to the payment of that appointment.

If you fail to attend that appointment without notice, the holding deposit will be retained by the practice to cover your non-attendance fee.

These restrictions will be lifted when 3 consecutive appointments have been met under the above agreement.

To avoid this policy coming into effect for you/your family please ring 4983 0900 to cancel any future appointments you are unable to attend.
